We are in search of a passionate and talented Pizza Chef with stone-hearth oven experience to join our new osteria team, working in our open kitchen setting. Do you have a passion for the art of making authentically prepared handmade, artisan-style pizza and focaccia? We are looking for a talented person like you to enhance the quality of our handmade pizza menu while innovatively maintaining our consistent standards, all the while having fun.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare authentic handmade artisan pizza using our “Woodstone” stone-hearth oven while maintaining Domenico’s quality standards
  • Strive to develop high quality, innovative and creative pizza menu offerings for our guests
  • Hands-on experience with preparing and baking pizza doughs
  • Recommend new recipes to update our menus
  • Assist with tasks from Executive Chef, Sous Chef and/or General Manager
  • Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specification as set by Domenico
  • Follow the FIFO method to maximize freshness
  • Assist in food inventory and control while properly receiving and storing delivered items
  • Clean food prep areas, equipment, utensils and strictly adhere to sanitation, food safety, and other health and safety guidelines
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a similar position as a Pizzaiolo/pizza maker
  • A passion for the craft of making handmade pizza
  • Experience working with other experienced Pizziaolos is an asset
  • Must be able to speak and write English and Spanish
  • Ability to take direction and work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Able to spend 100% of the time standing
  • ServeSafe Certified

Domenico Winery is a family owned and operated Urban Winery, Event Venue and Tasting Room that opened its doors in 2004 and has been undergoing a complete 14,000 sq. ft. revitalization; including a new 2500 sq. ft. Osteria. Domenico has been hand-crafting award-winning wines (375+ medals) and hosting both private and public events for the past 16 years. In 2019, we hosted 271 events and served over 26,000 guests in our newly renovated winery and event space.

Our new Osteria and Tasting Room at Domenico Winery is a playful eatery and wine bar, drawing inspiration from an aspiring post-war Italy, where street cafes were brimming with life and passion. This bright eatery, where vintage style meets contemporary spirit, sits apart from the rest with its simple sophistication and old-fashioned character. Set against a black and white interior that evokes the spirit of
1950’s Italy, The Osteria features an open view kitchen, burnished concrete walls, and Calacatta Bella marble wine bar, conjuring feelings of nostalgia lifted from an Italian postcard.

A classic OSTERIA in the heart of San Carlos. Our wine bar and osteria offers a dynamic environment for a leisurely lunch, wine tasting or quick-grab solutions for the go-getter who has limited time in their day.
Evenings transition into a social hub for an unparalleled happy hour amongst locals and a premier venue for celebratory group gatherings in the SF Bay Area. Featuring indoor/outdoor seating for 100 with an open kitchen and 37 ft. tasting bar. Centrally located between San Francisco and Silicon Valley, this venue is the perfect destination for anyone in the Bay Area. Domenico is looking for a team player that takes pride in their profession, loves to serve people, while committed to making Domenico the premier winery and venue on the Peninsula.

Pay: $17.00 – $22.00 per hour
